This year the Amber Fashion Charity Auction will benefit Jackie Stewart's Race Against Dementia foundation, a worthy cause and one close to the heart of Amber lounge CEO Sonia Irvine.

Founded by Formula 1 racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart, Race Against Dementia raises money to fund breakthrough and innovative dementia research.

"45 million people suffer from dementia today. that's not a number we can ignore. My darling wife Helen is one of them." - Sir Jackie Stewart

Lady Helen and Sir Jackie have been married for 55 years, but Helen is now in a battle with dementia. Helen was Jackie’s stopwatch: the love of his life and a razor-sharp mind that timed his laps to the millisecond. The woman who once kept Jackie on the clock is now confronted by a disorder currently with no cure.

Her battle is Sir Jackie’s race.

For its 15th anniversary, Amber Lounge will join forces with the three times Formula 1 World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart in order to raise funds for Race Against Dementia. Just like Sir Jackie Stewart and his wife Lady Helen, Sonia and her brother, former F1 driver Eddie Irvine, have their mother Kathleen fighting a battle with an illness over which they have no control.

It was a natural decision to connect this potentially life-changing foundation to the Amber Lounge Charity Event ‘Amber Fashion’. With both families so connected to the racing world and sharing the same drive and spirit of hard work, determination and courage, their joint pledge this year is to see the Amber Fashion Charity Auction achieve breakthrough results to help find a better future for today’s loved ones who tomorrow may be affected by this terrible thief of a disease. World famous personalities, VIP guests, sport professionals and CEO’s of global companies, as well as generous bidders, will come together on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Le Méridien Beach Plaza Hotel in Monaco to support this cause.
