Monaco World Rugby Awards 2017

In 2016, Princess Charlene announced that the 2017 and 2018 World Rugby Awards would be celebrated in Monaco. Sunday night saw this year's edition of the prestigious rugby awards taking place at the Monte-Carlo Sporting.

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene were in attendance, along with the creme de la creme of the rugby world who walked the red carpet and posed for pictures. These are the most prestigious rugby awards in the world, celebrating the best players of the year.

New Zealand was the clear winner as their women's 15s team, also known as the 'Black Ferns', received the 'World Rugby Team of the Year' prize. Several other awards were given to kiwis, including the 'Men’s Player of the Year' (Beauden Barrett), the 'Women’s Player of the Year' (Portia Woodman), the 'Breakthrough Player of the Year' (Rieko Ioane) and the 'Women’s Sevens Player of the Year' (Michaella Blyde).

Eddie Jones was named 'Coach of the Year' and dedicated the award to England players, while Irish Joy Neville was chosen as 'Referee of the Year'. Joaquin Truculet from Argentina took home the 'Try of the Year' and Perry Baker was given the 'Men’s Sevens Player of the Year' award. Congratulations to all the winners!
