The princess announced Monaco's involvement during the 2016 World Rugby Awards that were held at the Hilton London Metropole last week. The affair will be hosted in Monaco for a minimum of two years from 2017.

Monaco is already host to so many iconic international events, including the Grand Prix and the Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament. From November 2017 is will now welcome the world’s greatest rugby players and members of the global rugby family for the prestigious awards ceremony.

“Rugby is a sport that is close to the hearts of my family and so we are very excited to be bringing the World Rugby Awards to the principality next year.”, says Her Serene Highness, Princess Charlene.

World Rugby Chairman Bill Beaumont said: “The World Rugby Awards celebrate the very best of our sport and Monaco is a fitting location for what promises to be a very special celebration of rugby. I would like to thank their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco for their commitment and enthusiasm in welcoming the awards to Monaco."

The Princess also enjoyed attending the traditional ‘Captain’s Run’ practice session at Twickenham Stadium and joined Prince Harry to watch the match between England versus South Africa last weekend. A match where the English team showed their superiority and won 37 points to 21.
