Usain Bolt has won the 100m sprint in Monaco at the Diamond league 2017 in just 9.95 seconds, his first sub 10 second run of the year.

The eight-time Olympic champion put on a great show for the audience at the Monaco Diamon League during his penultimate performance on the athletics field. Due to retire after next month’s world championships in London where he will race in the 100 metres and 4x100m relay, Bolt was slow out of the blocks but managed to pull back the gap and take the victory on Friday night.

Ever the showman, Bolt was pleased crowds not only with the win but with his traditional 'lightening bolt' show with the Monaco cheerleaders.

I’m always here for the fans, and of course I will miss the vibe around the track. Mixed emotions always -- happy for my career, sad that it is ending. Sub 10 is always good. It was an exciting race, lots of energy.” - Usain Bolt
