James Bond's Aston Martin on Show in Cap d'Ail
The 'new' Aston Martin DB10 was created especially for the new movie
Sadly though, these cars will not be available to the public! Technically it doesn't exist. The vehicle was a styling exercise in sketch form only.
When the producers of the new James Bond movie saw it, they asked if Aston Martin could build a functioning car in six months. In fact Aston Martin built ten of them for use in the film Spectre.
Last night in an exclusive preview with special effects, champagne and even a helicopter on the roof, the car was revealed to a select audience at the Villa Key Largo in Cap d'Ail.
The designing and engineering teams co-ordinated to ensure the car’s design was feasible to be made within the time frame as required by film director Sam Mendes. The body has been made of carbon-fibre ensuring that the vehicle is very light and it also helps in retaining the classic shape. The interiors featured a combination of digital and analog controls and flashy instruments. The DB10, however, did not need crash testing, nor did it need to be tested for fuel efficiency as it was not meant to be a production car.
However, stunt requirements such as achieving 60 mph in under-5 minutes, ability to survive some jumps and make the speedometer hit triple-digit readings were essential.
Out of the ten cars made for the film, eight of them were destroyed during filming! So guests at last nights event were lucky that Mr Bond left them a car to view...
