Originally the Theatre des Beaux-Arts, built in 1930, the renovated theatre was opened in 1981 by Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace herself.

For over thirty years, the stage of the Princess Grace Theatre has hosted some of the biggest names in theatre, but has also given a chance to many young talents who are now recognised in their own right: Jean Piat, Raymond Devos, Robert Hirsch, Odette Laure, Francis Perrin and many others.

The theatre contributes to the cultural influence and reputation of the Principality of Monaco and is one of the emblematic places of the Monegasque heritage.
