Now part of the stunning Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel the Villa La Vigie was once home to the German fashion designer, artist, and photographer, Karl Lagerfeld.

Sitting on the coast at the end of the bay that is home to the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel, the Villa la Vigie has an endless sea and is described as "a small piece of heaven between sea and sky." Once the summer home of Chanel's creative director, Karl Lagerfeld the villa was built in 1902 by Sir William Ingram. Bought by the Société des Bains de Mer in 1952 the villa has been available for rent since then and has housed some of Monaco's elite guests, the most faithful of these being Lagerfeld. With his close connections to the Monagasque royal family and personal friendship with Princess Caroline, it comes as no surprise that he rented the villa for ten consecutive summers during the 1990's.

This week the villa will be open to the public for the first time, thanks to the new NOMADMonaco design fair. Showcasing works commissioned by the world's leading design galleries, NOMADMonaco is hosting its first edition of this travelling event for collectable design.

Galleries will present works in the elegant rooms of the villa, which will be open for the first time to the public for this very special event. The work on show at nomad will demonstrate a rich variety, with a number of presentations exploring the boundaries between architecture, design and art. An event for collectors, interior designers, architects and art professionals, you will need to secure event accreditation in order to attend. For more details visit their website.
