Practice sessions will begin this Thursday, 26th May, on the illustrious road circuit of the Monaco Grand Prix. One of the most loved and loathed tracks in the series.

Well known for its tight bends, narrow roads and crowd pleasing close up views of the action, the Monaco Grand Prix is THE Grand Prix to win. Racing at speeds of up to 170km/h round the streets of the principality the best Formula One drivers in the world will battle it out this week to see who gets poll position on Sunday and ultimately, who is crowned champion at Monaco.

With the current standings showing a clear domination by Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg, four wins out of five and on a comfortable 100 points, Ferrari have their two drivers in second and fourth place with British driver Lewis Hamilton holding on in third for the Mercedes team. Despite all of this, Red Bull showed their strength in the Spanish GP with Max Verstappen taking first place, just 0.616 seconds ahead of Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen and 5.581 seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel, also of Ferrari.

Neither Mercedes drivers, Hamilton or Rosberg finished the race as both retired on the opening lap of the Barcelona race. On the run to turn four, Hamilton span into his Mercedes team-mate when he was forced onto the grass as he attempted to retake the lead. Though Rosberg felt his move to defend from Hamilton was 'clear', Mercedes concluded the clash as a racing incident.

Despite this Rosberg heads to Monaco – where he has won for the last three seasons – with a comfortable 39 point lead over Kimi Raikkonen in the overall standings.

“It's one of my home races next in Monaco - the ultimate driver's track. It's where I grew up and where I still live today, so that always makes it a special weekend. I have memories from every corner going right back to my school days and I always have great support there from my family, my friends and the fans, which gives you that extra boost through the weekend." - Nico Rosberg

The Monaco Grand Prix starts on Thursday 26th May, with the final race taking place on Sunday 29th May 2016.
