122km ultra-trail race from the mountains to the sea
The Cro-Trail is an epic ultra trail race starting in the Alpine mountains of Limone, passing through national parks and forests, to finish at the Riviera town of Menton on the French/Italian border.
Covering 122km and a positive elevation gain of 6815 metres, this race covers tough terrain on everything from mountainous alpine trails to rocky coastal paths. Conditions can be difficult ranging from snow and fog to intense heat and blazing sun.
Two shorter versions of the race take place on the same weekend; the 80km Trail du Marguareis from Limone to Breil and the 42km Trail della Riviera Francese from Breil to Menton.
Where and when
The race starts in Limone and the route passes through Breil Sur Roya and continues down to the coast. It finishes sometime during the weekend (depending on how long it takes you) in Menton, the maximum time allowed to reach the finish line is 32 hours.
Venue
The race starts in Limone, a small village in the Italian Southern Alps, and finishes in Menton, a seaside resort on the French Riviera.
Rules
Participants in the Cro-Trail must be 18 years old and over and must have at least one of the following:
- to have completed a trail race with at least 70km and 3000m of positive altitude change within the last 2 years
- to have gaines 4 ITRA points within the last 2 years
- to have finished the CroMagnon or the Trail de Marguareis in the previous year
- to have completed one of the races listed in the trail friends on the Cro-Trail website
