The Government will be able to alert residents in advance of high winds, floods or earthquake risks. The new system will begin on 19th November 2015.

From this date, residents will be able to register for this free information service. Via the Government website they will be able to sign up with their mobile number or email address to receive alerts on a number of different issues, including weather risk, marine pollution, technological hazards, seismic information or health warnings.

"As part of the government's action regarding civil security, device alerts by SMS or email will be implemented to warn the public of the imminence of a major risk." - Patrice Cellario, Government Counsellor for the Interior.

Going forward this service can also be used to Public Security to extend its warning broadcast in the event of various risks in the territory.
