Monaco's ready to padel
Monte-Carlo becomes part of the World Padel Tour
As a Principality that is proud of its sporting heritage and hosts several of the world's largest sporting events, it should come as no surprise that it has added yet another World Championship Tour to its annual calendar.
For the second consecutive year Monte-Carlo will host a stage of the World Padel Tour and bring some of the world's top athletes to the shores of Monaco. Monte Carlo International Sports, a company created to develop and promote the sport of padel, has gathered the best players in the world and will bring them to the iconic Chapiteau de Fontvieille, a multidisciplinary space that will be specially prepared for the occasion. Two padel specific courts will be installed, one on the inside for the tournament and another on the outside, to serve as a warm-up track for the players and for different activities.
The 2016 event will be enhanced with the creation of the Trophy Fabrice Pastor. Pastor is the founder of the company Monte Carlo International Sports and an avid supporter of padel. Designed and created by Cartier at the request of Mr Pastor, this unique trophy will help to increase the international reputation of padel in the sports world.
The tournament begins with preliminaries this weekend and the main event starting on Tuesday 6th September 2016. Padel is a fun sport that has not attracted millions of players around the world. Time to get your padel out and give it a go Monaco!
