2. Le Vistamar Restaurant

Orchestrated by Chef Joël Garault, this chic restaurant offers delightful gourmet seafood.

Le Vistamar was awarded a Michelin star. Their motto: “One fish, one vegetable, once cooked”.

Designed by Pierre Yves Rochon, the décor is simple and elegant. In the summer, you can also enjoy their beautiful terrace, with a magnificent view over the port of Monaco.

Open for lunch Monday-Friday from 12:00-14:00, and for dinner every evening 19:30-22:00.

The kitchen is open from 11am until late at night and has the ability to mix new and traditional dishes from the Emilia region in Italy.

For a quick lunch they offer sandwiches with delicious fillings, pies and salads. Or, with a little more time, there is also the choice between the dishes of the day or an a la carte menu.

Open Monday-Friday 08:00-15:00 and 17:30-00:00, Saturday 10:00-15:00 and 18:00-00:00, closed Sunday.

5. La Montgolfiere Henri Geraci Restaurant

Located in the old town of Monaco, this little restaurant is the perfect place for a lunch break or a gourmet dinner.

Chef Henri Geraci cooks right in front of you and share with you his passion for ingredients and flavours. His cuisine is creative and constantly evolving, influenced by the seasons and by his many trips abroad. He only uses fresh ingredients from local markets.

Henri's wife Fabienne does the service and will make you feel at home.

Sitting opposite the Palais Princier, this restaurant has a lovely lounge and a terrace serving traditional food from Monaco and the region.

It is a Monégasque classic, having been around for 50 years.

Modeled after the same stylish and contemporary look and feel of all of the brand’s locations around the world, Nikki Beach at Fairmont Monte Carlo will be adorned in plush, all-white sun beds. Guests will be able to spend their days and evenings around the pool while indulging in refreshing cocktails, endless champagne and an extensive menu of delectable dishes representative of all the countries Nikki Beach is located including delicious salads, creative sushi rolls, original seafood entrees and slow-roasted free-range rotisserie chicken.

Located in the Condamines Market, Le Comptoir is the perfect spot for a lunch with your friends, colleagues or family.

Have a quick but tasty bite to eat at the market, with traditional focaccia, pissaladières, quiches and other home-made products. You can eat there or take away. They have a different 'plat du jour' every day, depending on the products available at the market.

Located in a pedestrian street in the old Monaco, Le Petit Bar is an authentic little restaurant that offers good value local food.

It's the ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, drinks (apéro) or dinner. The place is very small so remember to book in advance!

10. La Rose des Vents Restaurant

Located on the Larvotto beach, close to the Grimaldi Forum and opposite the Monte Carlo Sporting Club, the Restaurant and Beach “La Rose des Vents” offers traditional Monégasque and Italian dishes prepared with fresh products and served in a refined atmosphere.

Here you'll find warm salads with the taste of a sea breeze, with shrimps and prawns so fresh that they are almost wriggling. You can also enjoy relaxing under the familiar red parasols for the day, deckchairs and sun loungers await you. Lunch can be served here on the beach or in the restaurant area - the choice is yours.

About choosing a restaurant in Monaco

Given the wealth in this tiny Mediterranean principality, it’s not surprising that there are magnificent restaurants to be found and Michelin stars aplenty, but there’s also a fair few that simply take advantage of the swanky postcode, or a view of the palace on the hill. A Nicoise salad made with cheap canned tuna and some brown tatty iceberg lettuce can unhinge a person, especially when it tastes like cat food and comes with a price tag of 28 euro.

This guide is to separate the diamonds from the diamantes, no matter what your budget. Who are we kidding? It does matter what you’re budget is, this is Monte Carlo! Our hot tip is to take advantage of the lunch menus in one of the Michelin starred restaurants; lunch menus in much of France are a far cheaper option than dining at night and you'll get to enjoy fine cuisine for a fraction of the dinner price, albeit from a set menu.
